About: I came across this blossoming cherry in a copse of cherries at the NYBG in early May 2008. It had not yet dropped any of its petals; as I stood there, I had a sense of timelessness  as if I were in a Japanese garden centuries ago. A highly respected botanical institution, NYBG is one of the oldest in the country. The grounds and trees are meticulously cared for and manicured. The images were made with a high-resolution digital camera.
